HP users to benefit from rich Macromedia Flash experiences on Internet workstations

San Francisco—April 23, 2002—Macromedia, Inc (Nasdaq: MACR) today announced the availability of Macromedia Flash Player for Hewlett-Packard’s HP-UX workstations. HP workstations deliver the stability, performance, and visualization to drive a customer’s largest design at an affordable price. Macromedia Flash Player 5 for HP-UX workstations is available for immediate download from the HP website at http://www.hp.com/workstations/support/software/hpux/macromedia/index.html.

Macromedia Flash is used by companies such as E*TRADE Financial, IBM, and Sony Classical to deliver rich Internet content and applications on the desktop. Macromedia Flash Player is also extended across a broad range of platforms and devices including the Nokia 9200 Communicator, Casio CASSIOPEIA, and Microsoft Windows CE. Macromedia recently shipped Macromedia Flash MX, the fastest way to create rich Internet content and applications with a better return on investment. This new development environment is positioned to create more responsive applications that balance application logic between the server and client, so having the player available on the HP-UX platform will ensure people can interact with these next-generation user experiences.
